The evil eye, or nazar, absorbs negative energy and malicious glares driven by envy. This handmade charm guards the wearer against bad luck and brings peace and good fortune in return. Large protective eyes were painted on the prows of ancient Greek ships; Odysseus utilized eye motifs on his ships for protection during his epic voyage back to Ithaca in Homer's Odyssey.
